Healthy Congregations™ facilitator training offers the opportunity for participants to:

  • prepare to lead a congregation through Healthy Congregations™ workshops;
  • learn Family Systems Theory;
  • understand the nature and scope of the workshop materials;
  • discover a variety of creative ways to present material to a congregation; and
  • gain insight into ways of moving members of a congregation toward a healthy and faithful life together.

Facilitator training workshops will include:

  • Creating a Healthy Congregation
  • Response to Anxiety and Change
  • Leadership in a Healthy Congregation
  • Relationships in a Healthy Congregation
  • Healthy Congregations Develop Generous People
  • Spiritual Care of Healthy Congregations

New to Systems Theory, or just need a refresher course?
A Pre-Conference Workshop, (April 19 or September 20, 10 AM- 12 Noon) will offer participants registered for the conference an opportunity to learn or be refreshed on the basics of Systems theory and some of its terminology. No additional charge.

Key Leaders

  • Elaine Barnett, Bradenton, FL; Association of Presbyterian Church Educators 2006 “Educator of the Year;” elder and certified Christian educator; trained Bridge Builder and trainer of Healthy Congregations™ facilitators, which uses Systems Theory to look at the entire life of a congregation.
  • Sallie Verner, Durham, NC; Sallie is an elder and a certified Christian Educator – lives in Durham, NC, and currently is serving University Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill, NC, as their educator. She is a former member of the board of Healthy Congregations.

Program Fee

  • On or before March 8/August 9: $185
  • After March 8/August 9: $210
  • Materials Fee: $235

Scholarships are available for this conference.

Cost for Housing and Meals

Rates are per person and include all room and meal charges for the entire conference (Monday lunch – Wednesday lunch). No adjustments to package will be made except for extended stay. Meals for children ages 5-11: $33.75; under 5: no charge. No room charge for children under 12 in the same room with parent(s).

Assembly Inn (meals included, served at Assembly Inn; bathrooms either private or connecting with only one other room)

  • Single Occupancy, Private Bath: $244
  • Double Occupancy, Private Bath: $166 per person
  • Single Occupancy, Connecting Bath: $206
  • Double Occupancy, Connecting Bath: $156 per person

Registration Information

Conference begins Monday, April 19 or September 20, with registration 11:30 AM -12:30 PM, Assembly Inn Lobby. For those taking the optional Family Systems Theory primer, registration begins at 9:30 AM, Assembly Inn Lobby. Conference ends Wednesday, April 21 or September 22, by 4:00 PM.

Child care is not available for this program.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be received by March 8/August 9 in order to receive a full refund less a $25 service charge. Cancellations received after March 8/August 9, but on or before April 12/September 13 will receive a 50% refund of the conference fee and payments made toward room and meal charges (if applicable), less $40. No refunds will be issued after April 12/September 13. All requests must be made in writing and received via email, fax, or U.S. mail.
