Into the WILD!

For youth who have completed fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth grade, and for their group leaders.

We invite you to join us as we go out into the wild at Presbyterian College this summer. Through spirit-filled recreation, study, music, fellowship, and worship, we will explore how God walks with us along the wilderness road. Come join us for a fun, grace-filled atmosphere as we equip God’s children for their journey into the wild.

The Middle School Conference will create a place where middle school youth can:

  • foster and develop meaningful relationships with peers and adults
  • be actively engaged in learning about God’s love for them
  • be heard and understood
  • begin to appreciate their parents’ and families’ counsel
  • be affirmed and reminded that they are valued so that they may reach out to others
  • encounter opportunities to exercise personal and group responsibility for the building up of the body of Christ
  • be a part of a nurturing, safe event where they can be fully engaged

General Information for the Middle School Conference

  • Eligibility: The Middle School Conference at Presbyterian College is designed for youth who have completed fifth, sixth, seventh, or eighth grade by summer 2010, and for their group leaders. All groups must include at least one adult for every six young people. Adults must be housed with their youth. Child care is not provided during this conference.
  • Location: The Middle School Conference will be held on the campus of Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. We’ll be gathering each day in their beautiful Belk Auditorium and enjoying many of their facilities. Presbyterian College has reserved their air-conditioned dorm space (linens are not provided) and much of their campus for us. For this reason we prefer that no groups “commute” except from the local area.
  • Conference Schedule: Details will be included in a packet of information that group leaders will receive much closer to the conference. Registration will be Wednesday afternoon after 3 PM, and each day will include keynote, worship, recreation, singing, and many other activities. In small groups, young people and adults will explore the conference theme using a manual written especially for this particular conference. The last event will be a worship service at 9 AM following Sunday breakfast.
  • Opportunities for High School Students: You have an opportunity to participate in the Middle School Conference in a unique way – as a member of the Work Crew. We are looking for high school students who want to attend the conference with their church groups. You will have the chance to help the conference planning team during the week. You will work behind the scenes, learn the ropes, and get a close-up look at what is involved in running a Middle School Conference. The cost is $160. Your work crew application must be submitted by April 16, 2010. The number of work crew members will be limited.
  • Small Group Leaders: If you are 21 + and are interested in applying to be a small group leader for the Middle School Conference, call 800.572.2257, ext. 327, or download a Small Group Leader Application. You may be both a small group leader and a back home leader if there is another adult with your home group attending the conference. Your registration fee is waived, and your room, board, and travel are covered! All small group leaders must be members of congregations that are members of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (for a listing of member churches, go to World Alliance of Reformed Churches).
  • Planning Teams: Be part of the planning for a future Montreat Middle School Conference. Applications for 2012 will be available at a later date.
  • Cancellation Policy: See the registration packet for cancellation details.
