Lake Susan in Autumn

For pastors, CLPs, and lay leaders of PC(USA) churches of 200 members or less.

This conference is specially geared to address the unique and wonderful nuances of the small membership congregation (thus the name “wee kirk”). Having the essence of a missional movement, the Montreat Wee Kirk Conference will have a focus on “being sent.”

Following our 2011 focus on Clustering, our Missional Track will focus on reaching out to “Millenials.” In our special five hours together, this track will introduce ministries that will help small membership congregations to reach out and missionally engage millenials in the community who may not be connected to the church. Sign up to participate in our missional track when registering.

New to congregational ministry? For pastors, CLP’s and spouses serving in their first call, we offer the Barnabas Gathering in addition to the main conference. It begins on Sunday evening, October 21, and runs through Monday, before joining the Main Conference on Monday night. “Newbies” are hosted by the William Black Lodge for this event, and benefit from meal time together, workshops geared to their situations, and being mentored by veterans.

This gathering is for those wishing to be “biblically faithful and missionally minded” leaders of small membership congregations. Pastors, lay leaders, CLP’s and spouses are encouraged to attend.

Key Leadership

Marilyn Borst

In partnership with The Outreach Foundation, one of our 2012 speakers will be Marilyn Borst, their Associate Director for Partnership Development. Marilyn comes as an experienced mission professional with a passion for connecting individuals and congregations with God’s work in the world. Her networking, consulting work and speaking engagements have taken her across the country and around the world. Additional speakers for 2012 will be announced in November.
