“Fleshed Out”
“And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
Where is the Word living among us today? What is our call as Christians to be Christ’s hands and feet in the world? Explore with us as we discover what it means to be FLESHED OUT…
The College Conference at Montreat is designed to serve college students of all denominations, in campus-based or parish-based groups, or as individuals.
Stage Leadership

Lauren Winner, Keynoter – Lauren Winner is a historian, author and lecturer. She is currently Assistant Professor of Christian Spirituality at Duke Divinity School. Winner was born to a Jewish father and a Southern Baptist mother, and was raised Jewish. She converted to Orthodox Judaism in her freshman year at Columbia University, and then to Christianity while doing her Masters degree at Cambridge University. She completed her doctoral work at Columbia University in 2006.

David LaMotte, Keynoter – David LaMotte is an award-winning songwriter and a veteran of ten CDs and two thousand concerts on four continents. The Washington Times writes that “His lyrics range from insightful image-driven stories to equally insightful humor.” He is also a Rotary World Peace Fellow, with a masters in International Studies, Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, as well as the Clerk (Chair) of the AFSC Nobel Peace Prize Nomination Committee, and a consultant on peace issues for the North Carolina Council of Churches. He tours internationally as a concert artist and speaks worldwide on peace and social justice issues.
His new illustrated book, White Flour, tells the story, in Seussian rhyme, of a whimsical and effective response to a racist rally in Tennessee in 2007, when the Coup Clutz Clowns vanquished the Ku Klux Klan, using humor to defeat hatred. His next book is called Worldchanging 101: Challenging the Myth of Powerlessness.

Loli Reiter, Preacher – Lolimarta Ros Reiter is Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Seffner, Florida. Loli has ministered alongside youth in the church, at camp, at school, and at a variety of conferences. While she loves living in Florida for its beaches, its lack of snow, and being able to get “chicharones” pretty much anywhere you go, her toes are looking forward to a chilly dip in the creek and her spirit looks forward to sharing in God’s presence at Montreat with you.

William Heard, Music Leader – Minister of Liturgy & Family Life at the historic Kaighn Avenue Baptist church, Camden, New Jersey, and psalmist/musician for the “Hour of Power” worship service sponsored weekly by the Princeton University Office of Religious Life. He has been a choral director for three decades, a licensed minister of the gospel since 1994, and was ordained in 2006 in the Progressive National Baptist Denomination.
