Personal Sabbath Retreats provide respite from the busy world, and you make the rules. Your time here is unstructured and uncluttered with outside influences. Choose to replace your laptop, the cell phone, and the TV (only a limited number of rooms in historic Assembly Inn offer televisions or phones) with long walks beside tumbling streams, a good book in front of the fireplace, or a comfortable rocking chair on a porch overlooking Lake Susan and the mountains. The Montreat Campground is not too far out and not too close in – for the perfect outdoor adventure. A combination of tent, tent-trailer, and small pop-up camper sites are nestled deep in the lush laurel, rhododendron, and old-growth forest bordering Graybeard Stream. Each camp site has a picnic table, fire pit, and grill. Electrical or water hookups are not available; however, water spigots are close to each campsite and two bathhouses provide campers with hot water, showers, toilets, and electrical outlets.
