Montreat Conference Center Hosts Acclaimed Summer Worship Series
Honoring a tradition of inspirational worship that dates back to the late 1800’s when worshippers first came to Montreat in horse-drawn wagons and camped out in tents to attend services, this year’s summer worship series at Montreat Conference Center once again brings excellent preaching, uplifting music, and thought-provoking Bible study to the gathered community. “It is our hope that everyone who joins us for worship will be enriched and blessed by this summer’s line up of guest preachers and choirs,” said Merri Bass, Vice President for Program Development and Marketing at the conference center.

In addition, Montreat Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) will host a study of the Psalms on Sundays in June at 9:30 AM in the Presbyterian Heritage Center, and the Rev. Dr. George W. Ramsey, Theologian-in-Residence, will lead a Bible study, “The Artistry of Biblical Storytellers,” in July, 9:30 AM in the Allen Building. The Rev. Dr. Mary Miller Brueggemann is the 2008 summer Liturgy Writer, Dr. Robert P. Keener is the summer Music Director, and Stephanie Sorge Wing will serve as the summer Worship Coordinator.
Services begin at 11:00 AM, and in addition to the guest preachers, will feature some of this area’s finest choirs and musicians. Child care is available for children six months through completed kindergarten. Following worship, a lunch buffet is served at the Assembly Inn’s Galax Dining Room from noon to 1:30 PM.
