Montreat Conference Center Welcomes Guest Preacher from Birmingham

The Rev. Dr. Conrad Sharps, pastor of Independent Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, AL, is the guest preach Sunday, June 8, in the continuing summer worship series at Montreat Conference Center. Dr. Sharps is a 1985 graduate of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, where he now serves as a Trustee. He has served churches and educational institutions in North Carolina, Kentucky, Florida, and Alabama. In March 2000, Dr. Sharps was selected by the Academy of Parish Clergy as “Pastor of the Year.” He has traveled widely, engaged in several international exchanges, and written a popular inspiration column. He has also authored two devotional books, Articles of Faith: The Best of Pulpit Notes and Journeys.
Dr. Sharps’ sermon, entitled “Regaining Focus Before the Screen Door Slams,” will be taken from scripture readings in Genesis and the Gospel of Luke. Joining him for worship will be the Chancel Choir from First Presbyterian Church, Lenoir, NC, under the direction of Dianne Graeber, with organist Matt Brittain.
A study of the Psalms, hosted by Montreat Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), will be offered at 9:30 AM in the Presbyterian Heritage Center, followed by worship at 11:00 AM in Montreat Conference Center’s Anderson Auditorium. Child care during worship is available in the Updike Child Care Center on Texas Road for children six months through completed kindergarten.
