The Rev. Alice Ridgill Returns to Montreat Conference Center As Guest Speaker for Summer Worship

The Rev. Alice Ridgill is a familiar and respected face at Montreat Conference Center. Most recently, she was involved in the planning and leadership of the 2007 Montreat Women’s Connection and is serving on that planning team again this year. She also serves on the conference center’s strategic planning committee. In 2009, she is slated to be a key leader for the Christian Life conference and for “Alt7,” a new conference for pastors under the age of 40. It is, therefore, with great warmth that she is welcomed back on Sunday, July 27, 2008, as the guest preacher for Montreat Conference Center’s summer worship series.
Rev. Ridgill is a native of Manning, SC, and a 1998 graduate of Presbyterian College. After completing college, she attended Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, SC, and graduated in 2001. While at Erskine, she served as supply pastor of the Washington Street Presbyterian Church, Abbeville, SC. From 1999-2002, she also served as a Chaplain (candidate) in the United States Air Force Reserves. She was ordained in 2002 and continued to serve the Washington Street Church until December of 2005. She accepted a call to Thornwell Home and School for Children, Clinton, SC, in 2006, where she is currently Campus Pastor. She is also pastor of Hartness-Thornwell Memorial Presbyterian Church and is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Erskine Theological Seminary.
Rev. Ridgill, whose sermon is entitled “Who is this Jesus?” will be joined in worship by the Chancel Choir with the Prophets of Praise and Tune Weavers from Black Mountain Presbyterian Church, Black Mountain, NC, led by Michael Barker, organist/director.
A Bible study, “The Artistry of Biblical Storytellers,” will be led by summer Theologian-in-Residence, the Rev. Dr. George W. Ramsey at 9:30 AM in the Allen Building, followed by worship at 11 AM in Montreat Conference Center’s Anderson Auditorium. Child care during worship is available in the Updike Child Care Center on Texas Road for children six months through completed kindergarten. At noon, worshippers are invited to enjoy a lunch buffet at the Assembly Inn’s Galax Dining Room. Learn more about summer worship at Montreat Conference Center.
