Montreat Madness

The musical production, Montreat Madness, is once again planned for Montreat’s Anderson Auditorium on Saturday evening, July 12, 2008, sponsored by the Montreat Adult Summer Club. Musicals have long been a tradition in Montreat and this one, written and directed by John L. Currie, will be a tribute to two of Montreat’s most beloved residents from the past, Wade Boggs and John Mack Walker, Jr.
The production will feature 8 to 10 acts with a chorus and a band. You still have time to volunteer to help with the set, stage management, publicity, sound, lights, communication, clean-up, chorus, band, dancing or singing. Many of you have already signed up, but others of you can contact Margaret Neale at mcneale@aol.com if you can help with this memorable community happening.
The number of whole cast rehearsals will be limited and an effort will be made to provide opportunities for people to practice the music in their various places of residence in advance of group rehearsals which will be held the week before the performance. If performing is not “your thing,” there are many ways for you to be a part of this fun community effort, starting in the near future. Many of you have family members who participated in earlier musicals and they may want to again join in the fun, along with a new generation of Montreaters.
Pictures and stories about Wade Boggs and John Mack Walker are being sought. Also, copies of playbills (programs) or home movies of past musicals are needed. If you can help with these requests, please contact Margaret Neale at mcneale@aol.com.
The Montreat Adult Summer Club’s program on Wednesday afternoon, July 9, will be on Wade Boggs and John Mack Walker and on past musicals in Montreat. The summer is going to be great in Montreat!
