It can be difficult for a youth worker who identifies as “progressive” or “liberal” to find resources and support. Most events, conferences, camps, and curricula cater to evangelicals. But as progressive theology gains more of a foothold in the church, we need a place to gather as well — a tribe to meet with, and new ideas to stoke our imaginations. In 2012, John Vest and Tony Jones, both veteran youth workers, began talking about a conference that would allow progressive youth ministers to gather, network, exchange ideas, support each other, and worship. In 2014, they founded PYM as an opportunity to do just that, and the immediate response was overwhelmingly positive. After successful conferences in Chicago, Dallas, and Montreat, the fifth annual conference will return to Montreat Conference Center, March 6-9, 2018. This year’s theme is “Radical Inclusion.” The plenary sessions will deal with doubt, mental illness, disability, and gender. Breakout sessions will run the gamut of themes and challenges to ministry with adolescents. And, as always, we’ll have spirited evenings together with tons of fun. You don’t want to miss it!

Refunds for housing in Assembly Inn will be awarded in the following ways: full refund if notice of cancellation is received on or before January 23; full refund less $40 if notice of cancellation is received after January 23, but before February 27; no refunds will be given after February 27; all requests for refunds must be in writing and received by Montreat Conference Center via email, fax, or US mail.
